One from the Walking Englishman, this route starts at Castell Coch, a rather wonderful 19th-century Gothic Revival castle before heading along the Taff Trail with views over Taff's Well and up towards Nantgarw. The walk then climbs steadily to Craig yr Allt with fine views over Cardiff. The next climb is Caerphilly Mountain, which is relatively easy. The final part of the walk is through Forest Fawr, a lovely beech woodland.
It's worth mentioning that the initial (very steep) climb behind Castell Coch can be avoided by following the main footpath away from the Castell and then heading left.
