Dundry

Dundry, North Somerset, England

14.2 KM

A circuit from Dundry to Maes Knoll and back via Norton Malreward. This walk from the first Beyond Bristol book has some great views over the city in the first half - though the fly-tipping and general littering isn't so picturesque.

Dundry overlooks the Bristol suburbs of Withywood and Hartcliffe, areas which suffer disproportionally from poverty and anti-social behaviour (see this Bristol Cable article for a good insight). There is evidence of this along the walk, with fields protected by armco barriers to stop illegal off-roading.

The second half of the walk is more rural with some great views of the north Mendip hills. It was pretty boggy and muddy on the day that we did the circuit - the beginning of March 2024, following a very wet February.
